The pic is sideways; the piercing is on top. Anyway, it's been almost four weeks and now I got this swollen thing on the side of it. Will it go away? Should I take it out? Is it a pus pocket? I clean it twice a day with ivory soap and witch hazel.

hmmm either take it out and put a straight bar in it. Clean it with rock salt and warm water, and some form of antiseptic ie. tea tree oil at a very very mild dilution with water 20% tea tree 80% water. Or go see a doctor and they will decide if or how far the infection has spread.

EDIT: DO NOT PUT IN A STRAIGHT BARBELL. DO NOT TAKE IT OUT. THERE MAY BE AN INFECTION TRAPPED IN THERE IF YOU DO. CLEAN WITH A SEA SALT SOAK TWICE A DAY, WITH ONE SMALL DROP OF TEA TREE OIL IN ONE OF THOSE SOAKS. SEEING A DOCTOR IS ADVISED. --iamblackbird

What piercing is it exactly? It looks like a surface piercing done with a curcular barbell instead of a surface piercing-specific barbell.

If that's the case, then the skin is probably most likely rejecting the piercing. That can mean a lot of scarring and a lot of pain. I'd suggest going to a different piercer next time, and also check in with a different one that has information(good info) on surface piercings.

If it's not a surface piercing, it might be anything from the type of metal used to the tiniest bit of some bacteria entering the piercing during healing.

it is not infected that is just a keloid it is from irritation just take the curved bar ou and replace it with a straight one and try to keeo it uncovered and out of irritations way for a little while and the lump will go away and it should heal up just fine

ok, i'm not sure if you have taken care of the problem yet but i have a no fail solution for you. i'm sure that by now, all of the home remedies that you have been given for this keloid have made you suspicious of the affectiveness of any new information i might give you but i promise this will work. i have developed keloids on every single piercing i've gotten done (2 tragus, 2 helix, nostril, eyebrow, 2 daiths)with the exception of my lobes. DO NOT TAKE OUT THE JEWELRY!!!! i cannot stress this enough. if you remove the jewelry the bubble might get smaller but it wont go away completely. to clean this piercing ONLY use antibacterial soap (SOFTSOAP is good). i wouldn't even worry about that salt water soak that most piercers live by but if you're insistant then try using H2Ocean. it's a spray and its convenient. FINALLY- the remedy that will remove your keloid- use CORTIZONE10. DO NOT use a generic store brand because they have different fillers and dont always work. DO NOT use the OINTMENT because it's too thick and will suffocate the keloid. it needs to breathe. use the Cortizone10 Cream and only use a small amount because if you use too much it will suffocate it just like the heavy ointment. just use enough for it to be absorbed into the skin. this is a very safe, very tame, very affective solution. put the cream on it 3 times a day but don't over wash it because you might just irritate it more. you should notice a difference within a week. after the keloid has gone away you should consider either taking the piercing out completely or getting new jewelry to fit better. it's hard to suggest a specific type because i can't tell what this piercing is of.

please please don't use tea tree oil or any other remedy. tea tree oil may work for some people but it is a very very strong oil and typically just makes most skin types peel and further irritates the piercing, possibly causing more serious tissue damage. it is impossible to dilute OIL with WATER because they don't chemically bond.

i really hope this helps and sorry for the long post. i just wanted to be very specific because i, more than anyone, understand how embarassing and uncomfortable a keloid can be. i had many many many questions and went into a state of panic when i developed them.

I am a professional body piercer with over 7 years experience, and I own a studio in Grand Rapids Michigan. The piercing is a standard navel top, and yes that is a keloid growth. There are a lot of treatments for this, but only 2 I recommend. The first was mentioned above "Cortizone 10", I have used it on many of my clients, and if done properly works over 90% of the time. The other is the name brand asprin "BAYER". You have to take a small amount of the pill, crush it, and mix with distilled water to make a paste. Put paste directly on the keloid, and bandage after cleaning. Do this before you go to bed, keep it on during sleep, and gently wash off in morning. It is guarenteed to always work, but it has to be done daily and takes a few weeks to work completely. Once it seems to be completely gone keep doing the treatment for up to 2 more weeks. This treatment will dry out the keloid, make it shrink, and eventually fall off without scarring.

The teatree oil thing is an old treatment, that isn't very recommended for the fact that it is so strong. The original way to use it though was to put a tiny drop of teatree oil directly on keloid to dry it out, and put lavender oil around keloid to keep skin around problem area from drying out and being damaged. You have to be precise with this, or it'll cause more problems than you started with.
